Fernweh Gardens Ltd, is a woman owned and operated South Seattle based gardening company. We are currently a small team and looking to expand our maintenance services. Work-life balance is valued and respected at our company. Everyone at our company is passionate about gardening, has a positive attitude and can work well together as a team. The ideal candidate(s) have a love of plants and a desire to learn more. Most of your clients are in Seattle and with a few in Mercer Island, Burien and Bellevue.

Our focus is fine garden maintenance with some plant installations, container design and pruning. Daily tasks include weeding, mulching, perennial care and general maintenance. Our focus is organic care of the gardens. Both positions are physically active and require bending, kneeling, digging, and lifting and working outdoors during many types of weather. While we do not provide lawn care services, we do use electric blowers and occasionally hedge trimmers, ladders etc.

Gardener- 24 to 40 hrs/week
We are looking for someone to manage client gardens on a regular basis. This includes seeing what is needed both for the current visit and future visits, have time management skills, be able to take reliable notes, and have good communication skills for working with both the clients and Fernweh Gardens staff. Being passionate about the work is necessary. The goal is for this position to be full time but we anticipate 2 to 3 days a week to start.

  • Must have experience in the horticulture maintenance industry.
  • Desired skills- Pruning, Plant ID, IPM, Maintenance techniques, CPH or EcoPro certification
  • Desired- Background in organic care of gardens
  • Time management- need to be able to work alone, be able to discern what is time sensitive and stay on task.
  • Must be able to get to the job site or meeting spot on time.
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
  • Must have valid Driver’s License and be skilled at driving a work pick-up truck.

PAY – depending on experience, $19-23/hr

Our COVID guidelines: crew members are wearing masks at work, and are distancing from each other and from our clients. The crew has always arrived in separate vehicles.
